Society says
that you should never help anyone unless you will benefit from it. I think
other wise because I know that in life your situation is always changing. I can
be the top millionaire one day and the next the man with the cup. I am very
amused with how we learn to help others because it is the “right” thing to do
but we really do not live out that “value” when the time comes.
It is easier to not get involved or
help someone in need because it allows us to not become “a part of it”. I have the strong belief that
you should help someone who is in need because it is not just “morally” correct
but they need your help. I do not care about the “morally” correct scenario
that society has created. I feel that
someone being attacked, harassed, or mugged should receive help because you can
prevent further harm. I also believe that giving homeless people money is not
wrong and they can use it for whatever they want because I would hope that I
would receive help in my time of need. My “foolish” perspective has been shaped
by two previous situations that I have had the misfortune of hearing about on a
personal level.
It is time for people to step up and
disregarded what society tells them is the “right” thing to do. That means learning all the correct morals
and never applying them to keep your ‘self safe and sound. We have our own
personality and paradigm so lets use it. I understand that I’m foolish because
I would put myself in a situation that could potentially hurt me because I
decided to play “hero”. However, we are on this earth for a reason and with our
strong mentality we can decide to make a difference. I am not saying that you
are supposed to save each and every person and be careless about your own
safety. I am just saying do “something” to help someone in need even if it
decimal of an action. I know, I choose not to be a part of the study where
everyone closes the blinds and hears the cry for help until it subsides.
